If you’re new to making money online, undoubtedly you have
heard that building a list of email addresses is key to your
success. Once you have a list, you can use it to your
advantage in many ways. First, and most obvious, you can
market goods and services to your list. You can use your
email list to promote your initial offering, plus backend
sales, upsales and newly launched versions of your product.
Selling is not the only way you benefit by building a
list, however. You can use a list to conduct surveys – to
discover what products your subscribers want and how much
they will pay for it. You can use your list for market
research. You can solicit testimonials for your website and
other marketing materials. You can use your list to beta
test a new product. You can use your list to seek joint
venture partners.
If you are new to making money online, the question going
through your mind is probably, “Fine. But how do I go about
building this list that everyone says I need?”
There are many approaches to list building. Participating
in a joint venture giveaway is one way.
In a joint venture giveaway, the host invites other
Internet marketers to donate a gift. This gift can be an
electronic document such as an ebook or report, a
subscription to a membership web site, audio files, video
files, a software application, free graphics or anything
else that can be provided online.
If you don’t have a product or service to donate, visit
eBay and search for “ebooks.” You will find an array of
items that come with PLR rights (Private Label Rights). PLR
rights allow you to resell or give away the documents. You
can even rewrite PLR documents and add your name as the
writer. Check out the rights information on the product to
be double sure you can give the product away before
purchasing it.
Items in the public domain also make good free gifts.
Being in the public domain means that the item is copyright
free and you can give it away. You cannot claim to be the
writer, however. To locate, run a search for “public domain
ebooks”.
Back to the joint venture giveaway. The gift-givers are
called joint venture partners. Each joint venture partner
invites other people to visit the giveaway and take as many
free gifts as they want. If you don’t have an email list to
find members, perhaps you can invite some friends or notify
the members of an email group or forum. (Be sure the rules
permit this before you post).
So how does this help you with building a list? When
joint venture members click through your link on the
giveaway page to collect the gift, they arrive at a “squeeze
page.” A squeeze page is a page that asks for a visitor’s
email address before receiving the information to collect
the gift. You set this up using a form and an autoresponder.
If you don’t have an autoresponder, run a search for
“autoresponder” and you will find many offerings.
After submitting the form with the email address, the
visitor is taken to a page where they receive information
about the gift and the download. You might also include a
sales letter for another product or service on this page.
Place the download information at the bottom, below the
sales letter so the visitor will view your letter first.
You’re on your way to building a list. Be sure to treat
your list members with respect. They are a valuable resource
that you want to nurture and maintain.

I took a look at some of the online
offers for free GPS software and found,
like many "free" offers there were often
limits and provisos involved. Often the
freeware is a scaled--down version of
purchasable products. Sometimes the free
product has restricted functionality
with features disabled, other products
are trial--based and are disabled after
a certain time (hours or days or use).
An example of limited free GPS software
can be found at GPS Utility. The
downloadable freeware is limited 100
waypoints and 500 track points. (There
are 65,000 of each in the registered
version of their program.) The free
program gives you a good opportunity to
try before you buy, and this is the
benefit of most free programs.
There are online sites that list
various free GPS software and describe
how to use the programs after you
download them. Often individuals who
have used the programs themselves
develop the sites. These are great
because they give you an unbiased
interpretation of the benefits and
disadvantages of the programs before you
use them.
Using free GPS software you can
download programs that allow you to
retrieve and display aerial photos,
topographical maps, USGS landmarks.
There are programs available that allow
you import scanned images and add
latitude and longitude points and other
data.

sure that it has audio capacity, an
essential safety factor for motorists.
One such program offers data for several
countries with voice guidance in twelve
languages.
Free GPS software is also available
for downloading to your cell phone. This
is mostly tracking software and can be
phone specific. You might want to check
with your carrier before downloading
anything to your cell phone to make sure
that it does not incur extra charges.
As satellites are constantly moving,
it is helpful to know the optimal time
for data collection in your area. There
is free GPS software that includes an
almanac to let you know the availability
of satellites at any given time.
Some of the free GPS software is
brand specific. Programs designed for a
Garmin receiver may not work for a

If you have a computer, a headset, and
an internet connection, you can make
free PC to PC phone calls to anyone in
the world! The only catch is that
the person you are calling must also
have an active account with the same
VoIP service provider, and must be
online to get the call. With any VoIP
service, "in-network" calling (all
callers subscribing to the same carrier)
is always free, but most providers
require that you pay a small monthly fee
which allows you to make
"out-of-network" calls as well. Since
this article is about making totally
FREE internet phone calls, only the VoIP
providers that offer 100% free calling
will be mentioned. There are several
internet phone service providers that
offer PC based phone calling, but only a
few do not require a monthly service fee
when you register. Because the PC to PC
calling service is free, you may have to
put up with ads on your dial pad or be
limited to a certain call length, but
for a free long distance call this is
probably acceptable to most people. If
you want to make calls to a landline
phone, you can do so by paying a low
cost per minute (much less than
traditional long distance).
So here's how to make free PC to
PC phone calls:

Choose a provider, then download and
install their free software (the
software is a "dial pad" that you use to
make calls).
Register and get an account (you
need to have a valid email address).
Make sure the people you want to
call install the software and register
with the same VoIP provider.
Enter your friends usernames into
your contact list, and ask that they do
the same (this allows you to see that
they are online and able to accept
calls).
Plug your headset (with
microphone) into the appropriate
in/out audio jacks on your computer
(or USB port if applicable).
Click on your contact and make a
call - that's all there is to it!
Since PC to PC calling uses a
technology similar to instant messaging,
most VoIP provider's software allows you
to text message the person you are
talking to. Conference calling is also
possible - just click on another active
user and they can join in the call!
As of this writing, here are some
VoIP providers I found that offer free
PC to PC internet phone calls with no
monthly fees. Because services can
change from time to time, make sure you
agree with the terms and conditions
before creating an account. Skype is the
largest and most well known provider
with over 190 million downloads to date.

As with any software, your computer
must meet certain requirements in order
for the installation to succeed. As a
general rule, your computer should have
at minimum a 400 MHz processor, 10 MB of
free disk space and 128 MB of RAM. You
also need a sound card, and either a
headset with microphone or speakers and
a microphone. Of course, you need an
internet connection as well. Software is
available for PC, Mac and Linux
platforms. Skype has software for Pocket
PC as well.
PC based VoIP will work fine over a
dial up connection of at least 33.6
Kbps, but be sure to close all email
applications and don't do any web
surfing while talking because these
processes will degrade performance. For
the absolute best internet phone calling
experience, broadband is the way to go.
Free software-based PC to PC internet
phone service is a great way to "test
the waters" if you are interested in
trying VoIP before jumping into a paid
service. It's also perfect if you're on
a tight budget and want to make some
free long distance calls. Anyone in the
world can use VoIP as long as they have
an internet connection; just make sure
all your friends and relatives use the
same carrier if you want to keep the
calls free.
This type of VoIP service is not
compatible with 911, so it should not be
used as your one and only phone. If you
want save a lot of money on your phone
bill and use VoIP as your primary phone,
consider subscribing to a hardware-based
VoIP carrier like Packet8, Vonage, Lingo
or Voip.net.
